Some of you (though I doubt I get many readers besides family and friends) may have noticed the dearth of postings over the last three months. Numerous factors have contributed to my slackness but the single biggest event was that on Sep 29, 2005 a daughter was born to wifey and I. Our second child. Much time is spent doing parenting things so not much time is left to blog.

I plan to resume regular blogging next year. So, keep the faith and I hope this season brings you all you wish for.

Shalom. Salam. Peace.

My new motto:

"Don't get stuck on stupid."
- Lt. Gen. Russel Honore

Nuff said about that ...

Two more weeks. Necess1ty is currently at 38 weeks and is at "term" whatever that means. All I know is that it's getting really close to baby time. We have the room ready, baby's clothes all washed, the cribs set up, bottles, bins, whatnots. I still have to pack for the delivery and get everyone's names that need to be notified (who want to be notified). I've got most of them programmed in my phone so I don't have to carry around a 'list'. I should print out a list I guess - in case I misplace my phone in all the excitement. I've started washing clothes so we'll have enough stuff for the hospital stay. I don't think we'll need more than three days supplies. I should really read that chapter in the baby book that Necess1ty keeps mentioning. It probably has handy stuff such as a list of things to pack.

Kinda scared about the whole thing. I'm kinda excited about the whole thing too. I only started 'parenting' 5 years ago so I missed Invention's whole "baby" phase. Now I'm going to have to be responsible from the get go. On the one hand I'll be witness to all the first - first word, first step, first burb. On the other hand I'll be witness to all the first - first injury, first fall, first stinky diaper.

Two weeks. Can't get here soon enough.

I read an article tonight that really upset me - so much so that I'm really thinking about leaving my church. It's hitting me pretty hard and I'm not sure why. It may be because I've only had about 4 hrs sleep in the last 24. It may be because being Catholic was so ingrained in how I defined myself that thinking about not being Catholic really takes the wind outa my sails.

Getting the Client setup was rather painful and I've only really played about 2hrs total. The play times are restricted to 2hrs M-F and I work nights so things aren't working out to well. I'm going to try to play a little bit more on my nights off though so stay tuned for more details (at least what I fell I can release - they have a pretty strict NDA).

Play is very similar to CoH of course. You have NPCs that give missions and places to buy upgrades for powers. The general feel of the CoV areas is dark and forboding - much in line with the whole 'evil' concept. The maps aren't as tightly organized like Paragon city but the Island where you start out is supposed to cull the weak from the strong so this too falls in line with the theme.

As far as classes go I can't really go into too much detail. Character generation has become even more involved given that even CoH has had some upgrades. There are more body part selections so look for an even more varied population. All the old favorites are there along with beastial skins and skull/death/spike motifs. Sliders abound but those still playing CoH already have these tweaks (the sliders let you adjust things like chin size, cheekbone hight, chest size, etc)

I plan to flesh this out more as I play the classes.

Brute: Like a Tank. The brute relies on strength and destruction. They actually can do more damage the longer they are in battle.

Stalker: Think ninja/assasin. These guys are like scrappers in that they use offensive melee but their secondary power sets allow them to lose agro.

Mastermind: Finally - a pet class. Masterminds control bots, zombies or ninja pets. They use these in combat and can buff/heal them.

Dominator: Like a controller. Their powers are more stopping and closing in for the kill rather than CC.

Corruptor: Akin to a Blaster. Ranged damage attacks. Secondary attacks drain and leech health/power from enemies.

As Drudge would say ... developing...

Have to work the next two days. Blah. Don't like work.

Necess1ty is doing well though in pain at times. The baby is doing odd things in there. Cavorting with her pancreas and whatnot. 3-4 more weeks and it's go time! Getting really excited and terribly scared at this point. Excited that our baby will be born and scared that I'll screw things up. I've not been to any classes nor have a really prepared in any way. It's just the way I am - I procrastinate then go into stress mode at the last minute. I know there are self-help books out there on this but I've been putting of reading them for some time.

Went to Dragon*Con this year. It was neat. I enjoyed the Delria system Hannas got me to try out. The next time I go I'm definitely going to have a plan on what I want to see. This year was more of a "meh, lets wait and see what it's like". A recon if you will. I already know that if I ever go again I'm staying in a hotel hosting part of the con. Most likely the Mariott. It's really pretty and I spent an inordinate amount of time there simply because they had couches to sit upon. Nice comfy couches that lent themselves to some pretty interesting conversations with Hannas.

I don't know if I'll Cosplay like Hannas did. It'd be easier if staying at one of the hotels and I'd definitely be up for it if I stay for the Masquerade Ball but it's really hot in Atlanta in September. Not unbearably hot but imagine being in a full costume. Course I could always get into shape and go as Rocky.
